Local government of Helmand must investigate about the attack on RTA’s security staff in this provinceNo Comment
Local RTA security staff was attacked by unknown gunmen on 4th, June 2018 resulting one injury at the scene.
Jawad Dawari, former reporter of RTA who was one of the witnesses of the incident says to Nai’s Media Watch, on 4th, June 2018, at 8 pm while going toward home from office motorcyclist gunmen shot a security guard of RTA.
A local authority of Helmand in contact with Nai Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan said that security offices are investigating about incident.
Omar Zawak, spokesperson of provincial governor in Helmand said that they had sent investigation team to the scene, by the interview time it wasn’t clear how the incident happened.
Nai, meanwhile welcoming prompt follow up of the incident by security and intelligence offices calls on government to furthermore investigate on the incident and share the result with people.
Abdul Mujeeb Khalvatgar, Managing Director of Nai said: “Attack on media and media staff especially in insecure province of Helmand has increased the concerns of journalists.
Local government of Helmand is obligated to provide a secure and safe environment for journalist and media and in the province based on Afghanistan’s constitution so that journalists can continue their work with calmness.”
