The journalism community witnessed a reporter’s martyrdom after a relative tranquilityNo Comment
Abdul Manan Arghand, a local correspondent for Kabul News TV in Kandahar was martyred this morning (25th of April 2018) by unidentified gunmen in the province.
The Afghan government has not provided the necessary grounds for securing the security of journalists, as required by law.
The Afghan government in accordance with the valid laws has a duty to provide security to citizens, especially to the journalists.
The Nai office, supporting open media in Afghanistan seriously wants from national unity government to identify the perpetrators of Mr. Ahmad’s martyrdom as soon as possible and bring them to justice.
Nai also wants from the Afghan government to put effort to protect journalists and the media and not to bereave the journalism community further.
Since the solar year 1380, more than 80 journalists have lost their lives. The Afghan government is compelled and obliged to endeavor on securing the journalists security.
