Journalists’ Legacy Fund
Journalists’ Legacy Fund aims to raise funds to provide assistance to the families of slain media workers in the country.
As an initiative of Nai, a steering committee was appointed to make decisions regarding the administration of the fund. The steering committee consists of five persons, and must include at least two women. It is compromised of representatives from media unions and associations as well as from professional associations and human rights institutions. The committee will seek to establish the criteria used to determine the assistance given to applicant families of media workers and recommend appropriate disbursements. Nai will then act on their recommendations.
The money collected and will be paid to slain media worker families.
The amount to be disbursed will range from $100 to $1200 for each application. The applicants need to submit a written application with the following information:
- Name of the applicant
- Place of work/employment
- Amount of funds request
- Reason for such request
For Organizations or Individual who would like to contribute there are two ways:
1. For those who are in Afghanistan and have access to Nai offices, they can come, physically pay and get receipt of their payment.
2. For those who are in or outside of Afghanistan and would like to pay through bank, below is the bank information:
