A local radio called “ Sarhad” was  caught fire and it destroyed the whole technical equipments of the radio stations which includes the Transmitter computers and the studios late evening on 23 Dec, 2017.

The radio managers during an interview with the media watch at Nai office said the radio has been put in fire intentionally according to their statements 2 people entered the Radio station and set the fire amid the local police officials declared the reason the explosion of gas cylinder.

They have also made it clear that the police officials gave us alerts of high level of threats, but I wonder when the alarm of the threat rings why do not the security officials push through to resolve the issue?

General Director of Nai supporting open media in Afghanistan Abdul Mujeeb Khalvatgar in a statement said, “ the local police forces and discovery unit should launch investigation over the issue and find out the main reason of the fire set up in the local radio it also should be said the gas cylinders may have been exploded when the radio had caught fire.”

Nai supporting open media in Afghanistan demands the International organizations working on human rights and freedom of speech in order to support freedom of speech in Afghanistan need to support financially Radio Sarhad so that the Radio could start its activities again.

This is not the first time that a local radio is attacked the other local radio called Enekass was attacked by missile which resulted many damages into the radio.

4 private and 1 National radio stations and several printing media are active in Ghor province giving information to the residents.
