A professional working group was formed to decide on the media law amendment process either to stop it or proceed in a professional way, after media community opposing the media law amendment process that started by the government through sending an amendment draft to the parliament. The working group has decided to stop the process of amendment of the law.
Nai believes that there is no need at this stage of time for media law amendment and if we want to develop the current law, we should do it in a very deep and logical way, but indeed not now.
Nai and other media supporting organizations think that the draft government sent to the parliament of Afghanistan has very critical issues that will bring limitations to the freedom of expression and free media. Due to that problem, while a go, a number of media supporting entities had sent an open letter to the president to stop the process of the amendment.
