Armed gunmen have attacked the 1TV entertainment program manager  Muhktar Lashkary late Monday evening in Shar-e-Naw area of Kabul city and got injured in the face amid Doctors have declared his health situation well.

Mr. Lashkary during a telephone conversation said, “ 3 armed men have stepped down from the Helix vehicle and started to beat me.”

According to his saying his face got injured and his nose was broken.

Director General of Nai supporting open media Abdul Mujeeb Khalvatgar said , “ threats and violence against correspondents and media staffs is increasing day by day, this has provoked the Nai concerns that even correspondents are not safe even in the safest places of  Kabul city Shar-e- Naw.”

Nai supporting open media in Afghanistan demands the security institutions to identify the perpetrators of the Mr. Lashkary and introduce them to court.

During past 2 weeks 7 correspondents and media staffs experienced violence and even got injured in Kabul, Badakhshan, Baghlan, Kandahar provinces, where most of the violence cases were recorded in Kabul city.

Nai supporting open media in Afghanistan considering the ongoing violence demands the government of National Unity Government to ensure security and safety for the correspondents and media offices.

Continuation of such condition could pave the way for doing self censorship within media in the country; self censorship will not benefit the government and people of Afghanistan.
