Partaw Nadiri, the famous Afghan poet and writer, who’s case, was sent to attorney general’s office a while ago, it has been refunded to Media Violation Investigation Commission in Ministry of Information and Culture.
Partaw Naderi, who was asked to come to attorney general’s office for response to the complains made by Dawood Ali Najafi, Minister of Aviation and Transportation, refused to go their because the order was not legal. He was asked to come to attorney general’s office in late January.
In August 2012, Mr. Nadiri wrote an article “who selects the upcoming president” in Mandgar Newspaper. He quoted from Dawood Ali Najafi in this article: I “Dawood Ali Najafi” made Karzi the Afghanistan president.
After this article was published, Mr. Najafi said it was defamation against him and complained. Before the case was processed by legal channels, Mr. Nadiri was asked to response to the complains made by Najafi in attorney general’s office which raised serious reactions of journalists’ association.
Now, Mr. Naderi’s case, has been sent to Media Violation Investigation Commission in Ministry of Information and Culture for study.
Nai, Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan welcomes the decision and asks the commission to examine all aspects of this case.
Based on Afghanistan mass media law, whenever there is a violation made by media or reporters, Media Violation Investigation Commission will study the case firs and then the criminal aspects of the case will be sent to judicial institutions. However, a separate commission studies this important part.
