On Friday, 15th Jan. 2021 at around 1:30 pm a number of worshipers of Firoozkoohi Mosque were addressed by the Imam of the mosque to attack the media and destroy its equipment, which is said that a loud music was played during the prayer.
Mohsen Ahmadi, Editor-in-Chief of Zohra Radio said that the main motivator of the attack over Zohra Radio was Maulawi Abdul Basir, the Imam of Firoozkoohi Mosque. A group of his followers attacked the radio station and it took place when the radio had no broadcast due to power cut issues.
The attacks over media for any reason is considered attack over freedom of expression which is against the law. We call on the local government of Kunduz province to follow up this incident and prosecute the perpetrators of the attack over Zohra Radio station.
We ask the local government to make the perpetrators of the incident compensate the damages they have made to the radio since the radio is not able to resume their broadcast with damaged assets.
It is said that the attackers intended to destroy the equipment of Kaihan and Cheragh radio stations too, which was prevented by the security forces.
